Sunday Couch, Curvy
Set up: Clear the couch and smooth a neutral throw or sheet over it. A softbox gives that gorgeous, even, professional-looking wrap of light — place it to one side at about forty-five degrees, a little above you, angled down. No softbox? A big window with a sheer curtain, or a bedsheet clipped over a lamp, does the same soft job. Drape a light knit throw within reach.
Wardrobe: A matching lingerie set — satin and lace feels luxe on camera. The draped throw across your midsection is doing gentle double duty: it looks styled and effortless while it skims and conceals the tummy, so you can relax completely.
Camera: Phone on tripod at couch height, 2–3 m back, portrait orientation. Self-timer 10s or remote. Portrait mode ON; tap the lit side of your body, ease exposure down slightly so the satin keeps its sheen. Frame the full length of the couch so your reclining line reads long.
Pose: Lie on your side along the couch, propped on one forearm. Stack your hips and draw the top knee forward over the lower leg — that's the move that carves your waist and emphasizes the curve of your hip. Pull the throw across your midsection. Rest your free hand softly in your hair, and turn a relaxed half-smile to the camera.
Body-type adjustments:
- Curvy/plus-size: really stack those hips and bring the top knee forward — it defines the waist-to-hip curve dramatically.
- Slim/mid-size: arch a little more at the waist and pop the top hip up to build shape.
- Anyone concealing the tummy: the draped throw is your friend — adjust it to sit exactly where you want the eye to skim past.
Nervous-day note: reclining takes all the pressure off — the couch holds you, your weight is supported, and there's nothing to "hold in." The throw means you control precisely what shows. Breathe out as the timer fires.
